Alright so here's an update - I connected to a vpn, chose a nice neutral node in Switzerland, and attempted to connect. Wrong account or password error. So I changed my password, then it let me connect, but only when connected to Switzerland. When my vpn is disconnected, same error as above. Well this is progress I suppose....
Update:
Disconnected VPN, reset password with my regular internet connection and tried to reconnect.... same error above.
Deleted PC authorization (Switzerland ip address was saved in the PC authorization details)
Reapeted steps above, same error.
Connected VPN to UK node
launcher logs right in and allows client download as it should.
Tested with multiple NA VPN nodes to see if it's my ISP somehow blocking addresses or servers in the chain, but it will not allow connection from the US, Canada or Mexico. It does allow connections from Brazil, and so far the only restrictions I've encountered is when connected to North American IP addresses.
Update #2
Same issue exactly on my local server. Issue is still present from my office network when attempting to connect on my laptop. Resolved when connecting to (so far) any vpn node not in north america.
Update #3 Final
I'm wrapping this experimental journey up with my final steps and how I'm going to let it remain until something changes... I'll try to remember to come back here and post an update if it does. So to recap, launcher authentication fails when connected to any north american IP address. I have had some limited success with UK ip addresses, but Switzerland hasn't failed me yet, so I'm letting it remain my go-to. In order to play the game, I must connect to a Switzerland VPN node, login via the launcher, once authentication is complete I can disconnect my VPN completely and play the game as normal. Disconnecting from the VPN is essential, as pings are insanely high, but as soon as I disconnect, pings are good and I have no other connectivity issues (so far). If anyone has a better way, please let me know as this is a pain in the #ss and I fail to believe I'm the only person on earth with this problem, and I was not so happily surprised to find no obvious links to things like submitting support tickets etc. I'm just gonna leave this all here in case some poor devil finds him/herself in the same boat, unable to authenticate for absolutely no reason and no obvious path to salvation.
Cheers everyone!
